What do the 'D' and 'T' in tent fabric mean?
It means the weight of the yarn per unit length. This means that the larger the number in front of the D, the
thicker the yarn count used in the knitting. Usually tents are made with nylon or polyester yarns of 63, 68, 75D
and above, because of the need to balance cost, weight and abrasion resistance.
T: refers to the density of the weave, which is the number of yarns woven in the same unit area, including warp
and dimensional yarns. Again the larger the number in front of the T, the denser the fabric.
